Afternoon at Lake Balboa

We took Mumble and Chopper to the park at Lake Balboa this afternoon. They had a great time, and we had a lovely picnic under a tree. Mumble was most interested in trying to chase all of the ducks, while Chopper was most interested in trying to get into the river. In fact, Chopper enjoyed the river so much that he didn't even mind falling into it :)

Great Deal on Gentle Leader Harness

Doggyloot has a fantastic deal today!   Currently, they are offering the Gentle Leader harness from Premier for only $15!  That is a fantastic price for a really incredible product.

I have found the Gentle Leader to be the very best option amongst the harnesses / halters on the market, and I have tried many of them.  I think that Premier's other product, the Easy Walk, is also a good product, but for Mumble and me, the Gentle Leader really works the best.  It helps me to keep Mumble from dragging me down the street when he decides to pull on the leash to chase a squirrel or whatever, and also gives me good control over him if he "misbehaves" for whatever reason.

Now, I am not a person who believes that something like a harness should take the place of good training.  I don't think that you should view a harness as the "easy way out" rather than training a dog to walk nicely on a leash.  But this is the real world, and no dog is perfect, and a good tool that will help you without being negative to your dog is acceptable in my book!

Fab.com has great weekly pet deals online.  I just had to share one of this week's deals because it is so darn cute!  Currently, they have Star Wars themed collar and leash sets, including this super cute R2D2 design:

We got our second BarkBox today! Mumble was very excited to find it waiting at the door when we got home.

It contained:
1. The Soggy Paws dog towel by Farfetched! This towel looks awesome. It's thick and soft, extra long, and has "pockets" for your human paws to go in when you're drying off your soggy pup! This will be great for after rainy day walks!
2. "Double Nut Super Booster" treats made from oat flour and nuts - grain free and full of antioxidant super foods! Mumble's already tried a couple and he approves.
3. A toy called "Gimme Gummy" that basically looks like a big green gummy bear. Any toy that dispenses treats is good with us! It says you can actually bake treats INSIDE it... We'll have to figure that one out.
4. A freezeable smoothie by Mr. Barksmith. We'll have to see if Mumble actually likes this the next time it's hot out.
5. Freeze dried beef dinner by Stella & Chewy's. Poor Mumble found this in the box and sat really nicely in front of me hoping to get whatever it was. It's beef though so he has to give it a pass. Oh well, we'll share it with his buddy Chopper.

All in all, pretty great stuff!
